Exam Artist Statement & Portfolio
Through the trimester I feel that I have grown into the artist i wan to be. in this class i have got to create the projects, experimenting as the class went to create things that I enjoyed. With my projects I have realized that art never have to be perfect. their are people that only classify art as a pictuer hanging in a museum or a perfect sculpture. But art is so much more it can be anything and exposing people to this non perfect side of art is what I try to accomplish through my pieces. I try not to limit myself as to how something is supposed to be. My inspiration comes from the environment L have grown up in. Living in a rural community has allowed me to connect with nature and organic materials easier. my surroundings are not hard and sharp, like one would find in the city. my surroundings are soft and flowing. I try to recreate this flowing nature in my artwork. my art is not perfect, but through the imperfections emotion is easier conveyed and the artwork becomes more relatable. In this trimester my art has grown, and I have grown. I have learned to not be afraid to take chances.

Week 10 Projects
This week I worked on creating lanterns, the lanterns are made out of pages I did not use for my visual journal. each one is different and special. my lanterns are very meaningful to me because each one expresses my feelings and ideas. This may have been one of my favorite projects to create . Sometimes my favorite things are the less than perfect ones. Some people may look at these and see a hanging piece of junk. But when I look at them I see beauty.

Mod Podge Nest
These are birds nest I completed last week. Each nest has a center created from mod podged yarn. Colorful yarn is added ion top to create a "bedding" for the pearl eggs. Feathers give the birds nest a realistic touch and add color to the piece. I originally started this project experimenting with the yarn to make bowls with the mod podge and yarn. Through that process it evolved until it looked something like a nest. Figuring out how something will come together and evolving it into a piece that is appealing. With all my pieces this trimester I have just started out with a basic idea and changes things along the way. I am awful at planning things out and having a set idea that I follow the whole way through. I find it so much more fun and exciting to just flow with the creativity and come up with it as you go. Sometime things don't turn out, but when these projects do turn out they are my favorite pieces.

Week 8 Projects
Visual Journal Box
This week I finally completed my box! I have been working on it since the end of December so it feels relay good to finally have it done. my box is based off the ideas of visual journaling. Each side is designed so it has its own personality and is unique. The inside is a light peach color to match the stitching around the box. The box is covered with modg podge to give it a shiny finish and to make it more stable. After working on a my box for such a long time and putting so much creativity and effort into it I want to love it and be satisfied with the outcome. But somehow I am not. I feel the box turned out to big and it is acquired, the lid on the top dose not allow for movement as their would be if their was no lid, but without the lid it looks incomplete. I am disappointed that my vision of a journaled box could not be transferred into a reality.

Leaf Bowl
This bowl is made out of green paper pulp with yarn pieces in it. I covered it with modg podeg mixed with tea and add some dried leaves to the bottom for decoration
Feather Tray
This bowl was made out of white paper pulp and tea leaves, I molded the pulp in a square baking dish to give it its shape. Feathers where stuck to the bowl with modg podge for decoration
Tea Cup
To form this bowl i took pieces of handmade paper and wrapped them around a small cup. On the inside are plastic flowers covered with modgepodeg to give this cup a interesting surprise.
Floppy Bowl
To create this unique shape i molded Orange parer pulp around a bowl I created out of clay.
Pink Bowl
This bowl was created out of pink paper pulp and molded inside a small bowl. It has modge podged flower pictures covering the outside
